Over 150 volunteer judges are involved in a detailed and fully audited judging process to ensure quality and accuracy in selecting SAM Awards winners.

Canadian Home Builders' Association - Calgary Region member companies are asked to submit entry forms in order to participate in the SAM Awards. The submissions are reviewed to ensure that they are complete and that they qualify for the category entered.

The first round of judging involves the submissions being reviewed by a panel of judges, who provide scores and once again verify the entries are in the correct category. As a final step, on-site judging occurs for many categories. The on-site judging allows the judges to view the entries and see how the highlighted features tie into the whole product. The judges, based on criteria established for each category, again score entries.

The entire judging process is fully audited by an independent accounting firm to ensure all scoring and tabulations are accurate.
